has anyone ever heard of this before, i was with a clients horse and it comes up with a 3/4inch long thin sweat mark on shoulder blade. does anyone know why it was on the nearside.
my boy gets this, about 2/3 inches long down his offside shoulder blade.... he only had it for a couple of weeks while he had his winter cost, I did think it was his rug rubbing, now his thick coat is gone it has too...
He has no other 'symptoms', no obvious pain or lameness/stiffness and is happy for it to be brushed etc...
My old mare used to get this on her shoulder - developed after she slipped as a youngster in her stable onto the concrete floor (summer no bedding). I assumed it was nerve damage. She had it for years and then it just went and never came back (lost her at 10). It never affected her and she hadn't damaged the shoulder in any other way.
My boy had it too. It disappeared in the end and never seemed to bother him . I'd not heard of anyone elses horse having it though .I also just thought he was weird .
My mare has this - on her shoulder. Is always the first bit to sweat - and often sweats there and nowhere else.
I asked my McTimoney practitioner and she said it's a sign of a problem (not major, but site of soreness etc) she did some manipulation, but it didn't go away. Doesn't seem to bother her though.
But it did only start after she had an accident in the field, so maybe she tweaked something there.
My mare has something similar down her shoulder, it's bleached and it sweats occasionally. Back lady has put it down to toxins, there is no soreness there and no accident that I can tell. It goes away in witer, so I'm assuming it is something to do with coat change and spring grass, she had it at this time last year.
