Sweat rash, bite, reaction

My horse has sweetitch and wears a snuggyhoods rug.The other day he came in with a raised patch about a dinner plate size on his ribs. We put calamine on and it seemed to cool and reduce but now a patch of hair has come off and it is still raised and seems bigger and warm but not sore. Could it be sweat rash?Vet is doing vacs next week so will get it checked, he is not sore on it , any advice

Sounds more like a reaction to a bite, than a sweat rash to me.

my boy had a large fly bite on his tummy 2 weeks age just looked like a horse fly bite 2 days after it swelled so it looked like someone had slipped a dinner plate under the skin,not raised much more just large in width.turns out to be a hematoma after kicking the bite cleared up in days .horses dont know that booting themselves in the belly hurts till theve done it .hope horse ok

You haven't been using DEET fly spray have you?

No he doesn't have much fly spray on as he has his sweetitch rug on
