My mare is currently in no (well 5 minute bareback wanders) work so I've not clipped but she's getting pretty sweaty overnight. She's stabled (not something I have an option in, yard rules is they're in overnight now) but no rugs or anything. I went up this morning and she was dripping wet round her lower belly/girth area and bottom of her neck. She is pretty fuzzy so I'm inlcined to clip giving her a bib type almost to help stop this. She does have a rain sheet on for turnout if wet and windy. I am going to be bringing her into work in the next month or so and she'll get a full clip then anyway.
What do you think?

If she's not in work then I wouldn't clip. It's so warm at the moment, but the weather is set to change. So you clip you have to rug....

I still clip my 28yr old mare even though she's not in work! she is really fluffy, had cushings test on wed, waiting for results but she is also a very warm horse! its easier to keep her clean if shes clipped during the winter!! so I cant see a problem with it!

Had the same problem with my girl last year. I would clip reluctantly. Start with something small, gullet or bib, you can always take more off and then you should be ok. I didn't clip last year thinking it would get colder, and on the rare occasion when it was cold she was ok, but she was so uncomfortable for the rest of the time I wish I had just gone for it. The previous year I gave her a bib clip and it did the trick, you could see the relief in her face as soon as the hair started to fall off and she's terrified of being clipped. I was able to leave her unrugged most of the time and just used a cotton sheet on the cooler nights.

At the moment if I do take anything off it's only going to be a small bib clip. She will have a full clip in a month or so once Milo is weaned and she's doing more than walking to the end of the drive and back. Thanks to everyone
