Have just been out to check my little Welsh A and it feels like she has been sweating. She is wet all round her chest and neck but it was cold. I immediately thought whether this would be a sign of sudden acute laminitis ????
Last year she suffered it twice and this year she has been fine and has been out on restricted grazing day and night. About a month ago I opened up the field quite a lot more (its very poor grass) but started bringing her in at night (5pm - 7am) and it seems to be working well for her.
Today however she escaped on to the ungrazed part of the field for about 2 hrs - I brought her in at 4pm and she seemed fine and then as I said just been up to check her and she has been sweating but not now. Everything else fine - breathing regular, bright in herself, she ate her very tiny feed of chaff and vits, has eaten some hay, pulses fine, hooves not overly hot and not standing awkwardly and I walked her out on concrete in tight circles and she wasnt pottering. Her tummy did seem a bit blown and was gurgling quite a bit
So.....would a sudden intake of grass bring her out in a sweat like that? Or is just a case of belly ache?? She didnt have any other colic symptoms
I will go and check her again later on but just wanted some quick help!
Many thanks
