So this has started happening lately to my horse, when he starts eating his food he sweats up on one side of his neck, not in a lather or anything but damp patches visibly form.
It has been quite warm for the last month but it only happens when he eats and not when hes walking around the field or anything.

Im thinking its probably a combination of the heat and his excitement to be eating as he does love his food but just wanted to check on here to see if anyone might know any other reason for this!

is this new food to your horse? some feeds don't agree with all horse, we tired feeling barley to our old mare in winter as she was doing badly and this caused her to sweat as she was in tolerant too the barley so took her straight off her?
also even if not new food to the horse tolerances can change over time so something your horse may not of been intolerant to before could now cause this.

Oh would an intolerance cause him to sweat, never realised that! because he always gets just your average horse mix but I did actually get a new brand recently so that might be it!
I was going to pick up a new bag tomorrow but might change the brand and see if it helps, thanks. :)

yeah you might just find there's a slight difference in the ingredients and there's just one little thing in their that doesn't agree with your horse. don't rule out other things but if this has started since feed change its probably a sign it does have something to do with this. obviously if it continues after you change back then its going to need some further investigation / suggestions from other HHO's as feed intolerance is the only thing I can think of
good luck x
