Sweating

Is anybody's horse who is unrugged and unclipped sweating at the moment. I don't mean while working, Just in the field being normal.
 
It has been very warm - temperature down here only really dropped today. Rest of the week we have been seeing 18 degrees during the day. Whereabouts are you?

I posted last week that my fully clipped TB in a MW with no neck came in from the field foaming with sweat round his shoulders. Since then, he's been in a LW with no fill for the rest of the week. He wasn't charging round in the morning as Mum had been up there. He is a very hot horse anyway.
 
Mine has a very thick coat this winter but got a bib and belly clip last weekend. I'm keeping rugs off until the temperature drops a bit so his skin can breathe and regulate his temp himself. It's just so mild here (until tonight it's been 12-15 degrees at night) he comes in from the field feeling a bit damp in his coat. Went for a hack today and the sun was shining quite strongly and he was sweaty when we got back and that was with minimal trot as didn't want him sweaty and getting a chill back in his stable.
 
Yes he's sweating under the armpits, belly and under his mane. The only unrugged horse at my yard and he's the hottest.

I live in Oxfordshire.

Hi Jennifer83

I'm in Oxfordshire too and noticed that my unclipped and unrugged horses were breaking out when I bought them in yesterday and today to feed them.
One was sweating around her ears, elbows and chest and a couple of the others were damp.

My clipped horses have been going out without rugs and only one has had a rug on at night. It is colder tonight so they are wearning fleeces overnight in their stables.

None of them are the least concerned by the fireworks going off around here.
 
I really hate all this rugging business personally. It dropped the other week to minus 3 here so horse was rugged up. Now temp is back up and he is really sweating in his rug. My YO won't agree to me taking his rug off, saying once the decision has been made to put it on it must be on all day and night!!!!! Really stressed about it actually as when I take his rug of to ride him, the rug is wet inside and he is really wet, this worries me as I know it is dangerous for the horse. Wish I could keep him at home rather than there, hate somebody to tell me what to do with him, but thats another story and a very very long rant!!!
 
Our Fjord is on box rest at the moment. Normally he has had a full clip as he is in competition work over the winter but at the minute he is one hairy boy and hating it. He's been sweating as though he has done a damn good workout so we are going to give him a medium trace clip in the next few days. Think he'll feel much better for it.
 
I will be clipping soon to make him a little more comfortable. He gets ridden 3 times a week at the moment so I'll have to decide which clip is best. (any ideas welcome). He has started to come in this week and is always a little stressed at the change of routine. This of course is not helping the sweating situation.

Good God what nonsense from your YO. I am afraid that I would be looking for a new yard in your situation as heaven only knows what other strange ideas she/he has.

I have had some of mine rugged but they have been unrugged again in this warm weather. I too would be worried about a horse sweating inside his rug.
 
Yes, my TB mare is sweating at the moment. She is a very skinny fine TB, but if I put anything other than a lightweight on, she starts sweating - clippers I think when she is back in work!
 
Yep :)

My super hairy TB has been. Then last night I got to the yard late and I thought it was cold so put her LW on and left it on today. Needless to say she was sweating again today even though it was only 9 degrees. She wintered out naked last year before I had her and looks like a pit pony rather than a TB so she is naked again now.

It has been really mild TBF and she is the fluffiest thing ever!
 
My hairy old retired boy is sweating under his armpits etc when stabled at night, was a bit worried at first as he has had colic in the last few months but think he just warm. He is very laid back so don't think anything has bothered him.
