My cob has suddenley turned yeti!! Her*hog*has grown alot and the hairy legs are back! She lives out 24/7 and was hoping to have our stables but due to unforeseen circumstances and the fact we need planning they have been put on hold!
She is ridden upvto 5 x per week and after our hack today she came back a very sweaty girl! Am thinking of a bib clip and leaving unrugged - shes such a good doer and the weathers pretty mild?! Am a cruel mum :p will be tidying up legs but not clipping to the bone.
Anyone else have a sweaty hairy beasty cob? What do you fo with yours?

Mine (Connie type, v fluffy, average weight) has been out 24/7 with a trace clip and no rug for 3 weeks. Well, until yesterday when I did a blanket clip as he was getting too hot working. Is now out 24/7 rugged.

Got mine naked in a tracer clip it's not cold and she is a fatty who is finally shifting the lbs. ill pop a rug on her at the end of the monthish

Think I am gonna have to get my boy chaser clipped v soon as he is getting so warm after not much work but hopefully he will live out a little longer, maybe just needing a rug at night or if weather is horrendously wet.

Mines fully clipped out and hogged, still out 24/7 in a full-neck lightweight rug but he'll be coming in at night in the next few weeks depending on the weather.

My pony is out 24/7 with a bib and belly clip and I am thinking of taking more off as it is so mild. He is not wearing a rug as he would be too hot.

Hairy highland with access to field shelter. Blanket clip and unrugged unless temp drops below 5'C. Access to plenty grazing to keep his tummy warm. (Rug him after exercise til he cools down though.)

Last winter I gave my hairy cob a bib clip and left him unrugged, he was still too hot so I gave him a blanket clip and put a lightweight on him.

This year I'm planning on giving him a full clip and rugging him a bit more as he was still getting sweaty during work with a blanket clip and I was forever worrying about him catching a chill!

Some horses are just very hot and are much more comfortable with no hair during the winter!

Mines not a cob, but he is fat and sweaty and hairy - so I shall be full clipping him, and rugging him appropriately as of this weekend. I don't want to over-rug him,so that he grows some coat bac before it gets really cold. He will start off in a lw during the day, with a 100g liner underneath at night, but with a mw on standby in case he needs it. He will live out this winter, with sufficient rugs to keep him comfortable.

My hairy will be having a haircut next weekend...everything off bar the legs! He's more comfortable this way, I tried a blanket clip one year and he just gets too hot under the collar after working or if it's a mild winter's day.....and come the Spring,...he itches like bloomin' mad when casting his winter 'blanket', so he's obviously better suited to having everything clipped off and rugging according to the weather.

He's a 'hot bod' so it suits to have a 'number 1' for him! :)
