Hi - my new mare really sweats up easily it seems, she isnt the fittest of horses is quite big, (clydesdale x) her fur doesnt feel as thick/dense as my new forest pony but every time she is ridden she sweats even if gentle hacking. So....should I clip her and rug her, or just accept she sweats and looks like a wild hairy trufflepig, or do you have any other ideas/solutions???

My mum has a clydesdale x and she rugs him up earlier than most to stop him getting a big hairy coat - he does however get a little coat and gets very sweaty. He lives out all year so my mum has a bib clip on him with a rug

Depends, if it is easy enough to dry her off, then leave her. If she sweats so much you struggle to get her dry before she chills, rather than just having sweat patches on her girth and under her saddle then give her a clip.

Start with a bib though and see how she goes.
