My horsey is stabled at night, clipped, but out of work due to a recent colic surgery (july) And i know i quite mild for this time of the year. But the past few days i've gone to turn her out shes a very sweaty horse!! so ive changed the weight of her rugs, opened her top door to allow air/ventalation. And she is not the sort to stress. Im even getting there early to beat the turn out rush. Any ideas... Apart from the obivious IT WARM!!! lol Im a worrying horsey mum. Could it be a contribution of not been in work? Very unfit ? Suggestions please

Is she in a single loose box? Personally I'd never shut the top door - the heat from the horse and ammonia fumes can be very damaging, I had a neighbour that used to do this and the box was like a sauna.

If your horse is sweating I'd simply remove the rugs, you can easily add them if it turns cold.

I have never shut the top door, not enough ventilation with it shut.

Its a american barn with 2 doors inside the barn and one that leads to the field, she also has a full window opening which is always open, which she puts her head out (its like a top half of a stable door). So she has plenty of air guys :P

I wouldn't worry too much and yet again, ignore the more abrupt messages on here!

Cobs do tend to be warm creatures but you have not specified what the clip is or what rugs she is wearing.

Not sure where you are in the world but it has been exceptionally mild down south where I am and my cob mare who is hunter clipped is in a full neck medium day and night.

Take a couple of layers off and she how she feels then.

Yes cob types can feel warm when everything else is shivering, as do many other breeds.

I have never come across indoor stables with a top door!

Am I missing something?
