Sweet FA......Friday!!!!!

Hi sweet FA,
I'm glad people realise I'm trying my best

Hate the fact that no one at my yard has much knowledge. Glad I've got this forum, otherwise I'd find it unbearable

Your doing just fine!

And at least you ask - its the only way to learn. I ask my RI for advice all the time - she has forgotten more about horses than I'll ever know and I ask on here and read articles etc etc.

Ru is just a big hungry girl and the grass isn't up to much this time of year. Even my two fatties

We have 6 horses on a little field, which has no grass left, this time last year they were in the HUGE field, with way too much grass.
If he asks us to move into that field, I'll definitely have a word, don't want to suddenly move to really lush grass.
I don't know what I would do without this forum

I can't really afford a better yard, so I have to cope with where I am, and I'm one of the most knowledgeable people at my yard, says a lot doesn't it lol

Yeah, slinky, thats another problem, noone poo picks, or gets rid of ragwort

I hate my yard tbh
I go in and try to get some ragwort up, but its not really a one person job

It hard when its just you but persevere - its Ru that matters. Do you have a feed room or somewhere with a notice board? You could print off 'interesting' articles ie worming and poo picking and pin them up - you never know one o fthem might read it. If you don't poo pick the land will get 'horse sick' and then none of them will graze any of it.

The suggestion on the the other thread is a good idea - contact the BHS and get local welfare officer out to talk to your yard about worming, ragwort etc etc - worth a try?

We have two people per tack room, but everyone does share the hay barn. I will try the articles suggestion. But half the people at my yard think they know it all, and that worming isn't necessary :S theres a couple of people who may pay attention though.
Only problem with getting an officer out, is that everyone is at the yard at different times, saying that, people should start coming down at same time once horses are in for nights, so I can try then

I would just go ahead and arrange it - explain to the welfare Officer why you want them to visit - and then let everyone know including the YO the are coming. Tell them you have asked them to come as you are keen to learn about welfare etc and if they would like to be there to listen they are welcome.
