Farr too bouncy for this time of day Slinks

My arm hurt most of last night. Pile of poo

. It didn't hurt much when I'd just done it (so long as not move the wrong way!), but now.... ow! Ah well. Will worry about it later.

About to drink tea before prepping for two meetings. New projects, new people: can't decide if it better that they think of me as old hag with perenial bags under eyes, or realize I'm not at par

Have fun all and don't work too hard

That's all you need atm! Anyway, I recommend lots of bandages and walk with a limp. They'll sign any contract then, and will give you lots of hot chocolate and sympathy!!! You're worth it, and deserve lots of it at the minute!!

Well today I was contacted by my new horse's owner to say that she wsn't loaning him out anymore as they want to keep him now. Good for her, bad for me! What a shitty week! Broken ribs, sprained wrist, concussion and to top it off no horse. **goes off to find smiley for many many tears**

hi guys

oh what a day already, got up 8.30 i know not that early but still... cleaned stable fed horses and went for short hack. hector leg is swollen from knee to have of cannon bone altho not lame so?? anyway due to him not being lame he went for the half hour hack in walk only seemed fine and thn cold hosed it when we got back, fingers crossed thats nothing major..any ideas though??

GNM - Oh No!!! You're not having a very good time at all!!! (((hugs))) to you, hope you find another loan horse soon

well you would think kick but in on his own, and no visible marks on it.
im not sure if its just coz lil bit hes in is muddy?

It could be. Does his skin underneath look pink and inflamed?

Mud fever doesn't just start at the coronet band!!!!

Have you had a word with the vet? They might just suggest you give him a bit of bute to reduce the swelling.

Hope it's going down without all this, you certainly don't need any more wounded horses!!!

ETS - he hasn't developed a splint has he? Could be, just a suggestion.
grin.gif

bloo*y horses!!!
let archie out into piece infront of stables to munch on the grass so i could give stable good clean without him being in way, which he seemed to enjoy!!

however was a right sod to put back in stable banged his head twice on roof, his own fault for being a twit.

and queue downpour of rain now
frown.gif

hmm i dunno ill give it another hose down later.

just looked on archies insurance doc and its says they will pay 100% of vets fees after the excess which is £125 but it does run out on 03/09/09 but they should still pay if he has to go back right as vet looked at him before then??

Would say so, but I would get any treatment necessary before 03/09/09 to be certain!

Perhaps ask them, if they pay out if the treatment started before the date, but completed after
grin.gif

hi guys hope all is well

ldlp insurance will cover archie for vet fees just phone them and let them know he haswent lame also they will cover a full year from the date the origail claim was started as my little lads claim started sept last year and his claim year runs out this sept even although his policy was renewed in june. hope this helps

it says on contract-- veterinary fees- arising from any accidental injury or illness, occurring or manifesting itself during the currency of the policy, and on going treatment for 12months from the injury or onset of illness, but excluding veterinary fees resulting from normal preventative inoculations and pre-existing conditions

??

so if they proved illness started before the start of this policy would they refuse to pay even though he has always been insured with them??

obviously would like to get to bottom of any problem but dont wana be left with huge vet bill and a pretty worthless horse if you know what i mean.

Hi All!!

Well weather is glorious, although not sure how long I can sit in this office for!! We don;t have air con and we have 4 desk fans dotted about the place and a air con thingy on one desk by the window!! Its very warm!!

No plans for the evening, but may go round to see OH, and bore him with my Dressage pics (he conveniently forgot to remind yesterday to show them!!)

Other than that, no plans!!

Have a good one!!

I presume he hasn't had this before? And the vet hasn't been out for the same problem in the past?

no never had vet out for any lameness, never claimed for him that im aware of. nut i just wondered if vet says hes had prob for longer than a year or whatever that they might wiggle out of paying for fees you know what insurance companies are like.

didnt know whether i should email them and let them know hes on box rest etc because of a problem and if it doesnt clear up then further investigation would be needed etc

lplp111 - Yes they will exclude it if you knew about it before the policy began, ie if it's on his vets notes that he had treatment for it before 4/9/08 (your policy start date I assume if it expires on 3/9 this year). If it's possible that it started before then, but neither you nor your vet could know about it (e.g a growth that could have been growing internally for years but he only started showing symptoms during the term of the policy) then it should be covered.

As far as the other question You need to make a claim before the expiry date of your policy - you can then make continuation claims for up to a year from the date of the original claim (and up to the policy limit of course) I would get a claim in asap you can always add to it later if he needs more treatment for ther same 'incident' or problem.

Agree with annagain, claim now then you can add to it. Tell them he's on box rest and will probably need more investigation, even if he doesn't

grin.gif

ok well i have emailed to make them aware of his lameness stating that he may require further veterinary treatment to determine cause if he doesnt come sound, but at present cost of vet bill shouldnt exceed the excess i have to pay which is £125 i think.

oh i really dont know what to do with my horses. archie is still getting sweaty, hector leg is still swollen maybe more so than before, so have let him out of his muddy prison just incase altho he had no problem in cantering up field so its def not sore, but dont know whether to call vet or not.

Hey all, just popping in v quickly between seeing to horses, teaching and then PC meeting tonight so I won't be on until laters.

ldlp - ur really not having a good time which will be adding to your own stress as per other post - I will PM u about that tonight when I am home - had lots of experience with anxiety adn panic attacks x

I've just tried to PM you and the PC has thrown me out!!!! Sorry!!!

Actually, I was going to suggest cold hosing again, and also to ask if he's had a reaction to anything? Any nettles near you that he could have been in?

Hope he is ok. Ask the vet for some sedative if Archie won't settle.

no stinger neetles that i can think of, altho has been trawling through hedge, have put him out in big bit with others to see if this helps, its just weird that hes sound looks so puffy did take a few pics but whether you would be able to see anything.

its weird coz other day at show with other horse i kept getting weird feeling about her front offside that something wasnt right she seems fine no swellings or lameness and then hectors front offside swells up ...coincidence or am i physic(sp)??

Evening everyone!!

It was ROASTING today. Again. Had the farrier at last , and they finally have given him a bit more heel support so I'm very happy
tongue.gif
Probably happier than I should be!

Then moved ned - he's very happy in his new stable and not running around causing carnage like he did around the corner before hand.

Then had lesson - and I'm totally knackered! But, towards the end he was in a nice outline and leg yielded like a dream so woop. Now, to find my legs..

Evening!!
