Sweet Iche

My friend has just bought an Andalucian a few months ago. With the warmer weather he is now suffering from chronic sweet iche. Does anyone know of any good lotions/potions or remedies? He wears a special sweet iche rug all the time and a face mask but he has rubbed to side of his eyes raw and also his ears. He currently lives out at night and in through the day. Any ideas ??

Hi, mine is in at night and out during the day. He wears a rambo sweetitch hoody and a fly mask. I feed him brewers yeast daily and used nettex itch stop salve on rubbed bits. At the mo he is alright but I'm sure the midges will get him soon!

I use equidermis plus from Feedmark. My young mare had sweetitch the last 2 years and someone recommended me to try it and shes been on it for over a month now and the midges are not bothering her. She normally wears a sweetitch rug by now and she is still rug free and a full mane.

There is a new product you can buy called Cavalesse. It is a vitamin B supplement that you give to them every day. It really does work. It has made a huge difference to my horse. You can buy it on-line, or from your vet. It costs £70 for 3 months. I know it's not cheap, but it works.
