i really love riding in the sweet iron, loose ring, copper french link bit, and have rode a few horse in this bit as i seem to be able to work well with it. if my horse is in a regular loose ring snaffle would you think he would mind this bit as its not much different apart from it being sweet iron. maybe a silly question.lol :D

Most horses seem to prefer it to stainless steel (and its a lot cheaper than the happy mouth bits my girl used to chomp through once a fortnight :-O). Some owners dont like it because it doesnt look 'clean'. Not sure about dressage rules for sweet iron.

I've tried my mare in a variety of bits and now have her in a loose ring sweet iron with a copper lozenge and she loves it! She was very evasive and behind the bit and now she will stretch down into this and works very well. However tried it on the little cob and he wasn't so keen so he now has a happy mouth loose ring with a centre roller, works really well in that but brakes aren't great! Oh well x
