Hi guys

Please can tou tell me if you have now removed your horses sweet itch rugs or not...

I have a shetland that suffers badly but this year we have used the Rambo Sweet Itch Hoody and it is amazing, had such an easy year and Misty has the best mane/tail/coat ever

But now the weather is getting worse she comes in all wet and i have taken her rug off... what is everyone else doing?
(she lives out btw)

My guy is still in his as there are some midges and flys still out there.

I invested in the waterproof that goes under the sweetitch hoody and it does work, doesn't shift at all and keeps him dry.

Mine switched from her fly rug to a lightweight turnout, but when it got wet she had to wear a spare rug with no neck for one night - Big Mistake. She rubbed her mane really badly! Also, even with the neck on her other lightweight she managed to rub her withers through the gap.

I have now bought her a Rambo lightweight combo with a fixed neck and that seems more successful.

I was going to get her that but her rug is the smallest size they do (4'3) and haven't found one plus she is a wooly shetland so doesn't really need it. I am putting her hoody back on tomorrow, might as well it's so easy, it as just nice seeing her out with no rug

No - I still see midges about in the evening if it has been sunny. I don't think I will be considering taking them off until mid to end of Nov at least. I am putting a lightweight turnout over the top at night though to stop him getting wet through and last night I took it off before I went home in the dark, washed and dried it and put it back on this morning before it was light!

Removed Lanky's 3 days after we moved him from his old home in Cornwall to be with us where our field is open and there is no running water close by. He will still get a rug March to October, just in case, but his cleared up within days so I did away witht he heavy rug.

Lots of midges still about, but I believe a mixture of things have led to it clearing up and I'm chuffed.

Hi there

I have a sweet-itch monster and yes I've taken his Rambo Hoody off (yes they are superb) but he is wearing a full neck rug.

The midges are still out there though.

I wouldnt take it to be safe for him to go naked untill late November ish.

My boy didnt suffer from his rug being wet in the summer at all.
