Has anybody used Kenalog steroid injections to help their horse's SI? If so please could you tell me the dosage and frequency of injections.

Also how much did you rate them in helping control the SI? Do you have any problems getting hold of Kenalog now and if so what alternatives have you tried?

Many thanks - all input welcome.:)

Don't know if this is at all useful. I haven't tried steroid injections but, after trying loads of supplements and lotions, I found that the only thing which works with my Sec A is a supplement from Global Herbs 'Skratch Plus'. It absolutely stinks but luckily my little boy isn't fussy and happily eats it. You have to feed it twice a day throughout spring and summer as a preventative.

Just not sure which way to go on this TBH. It seemed like the one Kenalog she had April last year was very helpful over a few weeks, but not entirely convinced it lasted any longer than that.

My vet is now suggesting one within next week or so and then another mid summer. But I have had her on Brewers Yeast all winter and I am hoping that will make her reaction less extreme this year?

Vet is also saying ti will be far more helpful if she has it before she actually starts itching, rather than after, as happened last year.

PF why are you thinking Turmeric would help? I understood that is an anti inflammatory as in a pain killer?

The more I delve the more I am confuddled.
