Hi all
thanks for the suggestions, I use sudocrem for grazes and stuff and it does seem to keep the flies away, if its only acting as a barrier cream. Not sure I would want to plaster it on my grey mares already grubby tail though.

I never heard of feeding brewers yeast for sweet itch, do you know why that would work?
You can probably get BB from the vet but not likely without an examination (and charges!).

I did wonder about head lice treatment that is used for kids. BB is used for lice as well. So would human lice shampoo or treatment work? Its probably as pricey as the sweet itch preps though.

BB is still available - you just need to know where to look!

Brewers yeast works really well - the B vitamins makes the consumee less tasty to midges

Think I might try the yeast, though how the hell do you get a fussy eater to digest it? And if used marmite she is bound to be a horse that hates it! Also how much are you suppose to give?

My shetland is the fussiest eater on earth and she will now only eat her feed if it has Brewers Yeast on it!
