I've already started putting lotion on my Shetland as there are midges about with the warmer weather. I'm keeping his mane and tail nice and oily to thwart the nasty little bugs. Hope I've caught it early enough.
If your Shettie suffers from sweet itch the best thing you can do is cover him/her up with a sweet itch rug.
Lotions and potions are good but covering so they don't get bitten inthe first place is the best help.
My lad startedshowing signs a couple of weeks ago. No itching yet but he had started rolling excessively which is his first tell tale sign. He is now rugged up for the summer....here we go
Toffee has been marinaded for the past three weeks and has her fly rug on now (well her fly neck cover) she was trotting about swishing her tail about today bless her :C
