One of our customers has just had her pony jabbed for this - will be interesting to see the result as it gets sweet itch really badly.

Two ponies at the yard had this last summer - it was in the trial stages. We think one had the 'real' thing and the other had the placebo. The one who had the 'real' drug never rubbed once! It was great - he normally makes himself bleed and very sore but not rubbed once all summer. The one with the placebo rubbed loads.

I think it will be great if it does work and gets widely available.

Through our vets i think? I didn't organise it though so don't know details. Yer i really hope it works she will be so much happier! Always has a really sore belly in the Summer and half her mane missing - and this is WITH sweet itch rugs on! She is a welshy too so looks a little wrong with half her mane missing!

Yes we are on the trial and have been for the last 3 years. we have had good success with it so far.

You can sign up for it by calling the national sweet-itch center in wrexham. www.sweet-itch.co.uk

You need the permission of your vet, once you have that you call the centre pay £235 ish, and they post the vaccine and instructions to your vet who then comes up every 2 weeks for 6 weeks and gives a jab, after the 3rd jab you are given 20 tablets one to be given every 2 weeks throughout summer.

My pony managed untill july last year with no rugs on, this is a pony who is normaly raw and bleeding by may WITH a boette on!
