When does everyone stop putting sweet itch rugs on? I usually leave his fleece with a neck rug on him under stable rugs and turnout rugs i do my best to have him in one with a neck rug, so just wondered what everyone else does and what time of year would i be safe to leave him without his nect covered?
Thanks

Differs each year, last year it was off by now, this year she is still wearing it (we are in gloucestershire). If this cool wind continues then I expect she will have it off in a couple of days as I haven't seen midges since the weekend. I'd rather leave it on longer though just incase, she has a lovely full mane and tail atm and I'd like it to stay that way!!

It also depends on the horse.

We had one that needed the rug from the end of Feb until the end of October, and another that needed it from April - Sept..

We just sold our sweet itcher, but had his sweet itch hoody on with a no fill (summer) turnout underneath. He didn't have a rug with a neck on in the stable at night, but mainly itched his tail..

A general rule is a couple of weeks longer than think!
