Hi

I like the maximum coverage available with the snuggy hood sweet itch rug, neck, head and attachable udder protection. Has anyone used these and how effective are they compared to regular sweet itch/ fly rugs? Have you found your horse is too warm in them in summer? It is for a dark coloured horse but I guess beige would be better than black?

Thanks

I've not found them to be too hot in summer, though I can't remember when it was actually hot in summer :p. We tried the Snuggy Hoods udder cover on our mare without success though as no matter how it was fitted she somehow managed to pee into it and then it made her sore. My friend and I have tried most makes on our ponies over the years and my friend prefers Snuggy Hoods but I prefer the Boett ones, I don't think there's much in it except personal preference. There is also a lady on ebay that makes rugs to measure and I've had a couple of hers and found them good value (cornerstonebrowbands or a similar name).

I bought a snuggy Hood set which is a great fit. For the hottest days I bought a Masta set, this is under £100 and is a much lighter material, a similat thing to the Boett but cheaper and I am really pleased with it and it's a great 'budget' option that fits much closer and provides better coverage than the Rambo Hoodie that I also have for less risky days
