I need to get a sweet itch rug. i had a fly rug last year and that did'nt work a bit! But i what a rug that will protect her from flys but not fry her in the summer heat. I was think about a boett rug ? What do you guys think. Experiences ?

They are amazing. There is nothing that will work as well as a boett... dont bother with cheaper imitations go for the real mccoy despite its price!

(oh and learn to be a good repairer if he is out with other horses as they like to rip them! )

They are ace

My severe sweet-itch suferrer wears one 24/7 in the summer and no over heating. Resaerch atually show they keep them cooler

We have one at work, SUPER things, only SI rug I know that works properly. well worth the expense, and if ythe crazed 4yo can't shred it then I dare to say its long lasting.

They are amzing rugs! Cover all of the areas they itch, they are just like an extra layer of skin to the horse. I have never known a horse to sweat up in one if that helps.

I found that my horse came between sizes, so the neck cover wasnt long enough to go right to the top of his mane so it rubbed, and it also rubbed his shoulders a bit, but fitted beautifully everywhere else, the size above was far too big on him. However I have seen them work well for other horses. Mine now lives in an area where he can go out naked in summer without midges annoying him, so my boett will be going on ebay!

Afraid I loathe Boetts. When I got my young Arab as a 3yo he came with a Boett as his breeder thought he might have a tendency to sweet-itch. The damn thing tore if you looked at it, although it was long enough it wasn't deep enough, the belly band ruckled up to expose his most tender areas if he rolled, he sweated up underneath ... in short I changed it the following summer for a Rambo Sweet-itch Hoody and his life was transformed. He stays cool, it has excellent coverage, it's tough but not heavy - he's now rising 9 and on his second Hoody, which isn't bad going for a sheet that's on 24/7 for 7 months of the year.

Thumbs up from me...
Yes they get a bit ripped and snagged but the material doesn't run like alot of others so repair is easy even for a non sewer like me. No sweating from my hairy coloured cob except what he would normally do in summer unlike the snuggyhoods one which had him sweltering!!
With sweet itch you need a sung fit so you need to get the size right and keep it away from sharp objects like barbed wire, trees etc.
