Sweet itch rugs in the rain

following on from my thread about sweet itch rugs in the sun, I've now got the opposite problem cos its been raining all day!! The horse in question is very thin skinned with a thin coat. In spite of having tried several makes of fly mask her face is always rubbed by the end of the day. Do I leave her sweet itch rug on or off in the rain? Its been raining all day and the rug is not waterproof. I'm worried about it rubbing if I leave it on, or her rubbing her tail if I leave it off. What does everyone else do?

I'd leave it personally. My pony wears his SI rug 24/7 come rain or shine. He'd just rub himself raw if I took it off.

if it's a rambo SI hoody then put a waterproof liner under the rug. Mine works pretty well.
