I have been using boett rugs for about 10 years now and been through about 4 or 5. He has a fairly new one on at the moment which on cooler days we put a light weight NZ on top of just to protect it! I have nothing against the Boett other than its price!

I was looking at different rugs today to see if there are good cheaper alternatives. Has anyone seen or uses the Equi-theme rug? the hood doesnt look any use but the rug looks great. The bug rug looks good too but it has extra straps around the neck which is just more to get ripped apart!! Also heard a few good reviews on the pagony. who likes what best?!

Also he is a dartmoor and although he is barely suffering (just the occaisonal rub when his hood comes off and a bit of hair loss around eyes not scabby) his mane just is not growing does anyone know how to get their manes to come back thick and strong?it just falls out and i dont know if the strap that holds the hood on that goes down is not helping either. So any special miracle cures?!?!

I've had two friends with ponies that have suffered from sweet itch. One had a Boett and was very pleased with it. The other pony had a Rambo sweet itch hoodie and it was very good too.

The Boett did have to be repaired quite alot, however that pony had worse sweet itch.

Ok thought I would just let you know I bought the Equi-theme rug for my horse who doesnt have sweetitch but is grey and is fed up with all the flies this year (the flies were literally eating her neck and even with the cheap fly rugs they were getting in) Anyway. The rug is not as good quality as boett it is quite static-y but I am really pleased with it so will be ordering for the sweetitch pony as well as its is only £65.00. I thoroughly recommend. i have to say i personally dont like the snuggy hood ones they are too heavy and not breathable enough.would definatly choose this over the snuggy. but boett is still the best it is just so expensive if you have a severe sweetitch case.

My friend uses the Rambo Sweetitch Hoodie rug and swears by the quality and wearability of it. Protects her horse very well.
