My yearling ambushed me for cuddles while I was poo picking, then let me brush his mane and forelock. He went to groom me back when I scratched his withers, but wasn’t quite sure what to do because I don’t have fur 🤣!

Son’s mare (of my traumatised pony thread) came to stand by the fence staring at him, asking for attention. So he brushed her mane too and gave her some fuss. Happy pony then went back to grazing.

My Connie very helpfully lifted his hind legs so I could access every bit of his inner thighs to apply fly cream just now. He’s so obliging and balances on 3 legs while I rummage around near his nether regions. I have no idea if he was taught to do it as he only began lifting them last year and I’ve had him 7 years. It always makes me smile.

I didn't think my horses hung out together in the field (massive pasture, 14 horses) but this morning little cob was flat out asleep and Big Horse was standing right over her. When BH saw me she nudged LC awake and waited for her to get up so she could follow her over. BH is a natural follower.

Not quite today but yesterday. There's a child who we see sometimes with additional needs - everytime we meet them, he stops and is so, so gentle with them whilst they pet him. Totally ignores the involuntary ticks, noises, walking frame/wheelchair etc & is very sweet to the parents too 😍 To be fair, he's gentle with all children but it's especially moving to see him with this child.

Same pony 30 minutes later gleefully tried to absolutely tow me across the yard for grass whilst I was mid conversation with my friend 🤣

Meg, who 2 months ago was pretty much feral and was terrified of human contact, followed me around the stable tonight for her cuddle. I crouch down next to her and she buries her head in my arms and rests her nose on my lap while I cuddle her and kiss her face. She is the sweetest, most loving little girl.

He let me kiss him on the nose! He’s not one for ANY attempt at affection normally but he let me smooch him today after being ever so obliging with my novice rider niece too. He was possibly tired from being ridden and/or too lethargic from the warm weather to resist my advances (or maybe he does love me too?!?) Either way, ‘twas lovely 🥰

I have 2 horses in one field and one in the field beside but to get between the fields you go down a hill along the length of the fields and back up the other side. There are fields below mine so I need to go around them.

I took Miss T for a hack and on the way back collected Miss F. We were coming back up towards the field with Mr T in it when I looked at the field I'm beside and wow that horse prancing looks handsome and very Araby. Oh wait. That's Mr T in with his friends next door.
Cursing I take my mares into their field and lead them all along the fence line but nothing down. He's jumped it clean.
I head down to him and his 3 new buddies and call his name. He raises his head and canters to me followed by his buddies, catches nicely and walks calm as anything back to his field. When I left he neighed after me so that was sweet.

(I messaged the other owner to give her the heads up my horse had been in her field. Thankfully my best friend so I know her horses very well).

I was totally chuffed how my young mare loaded into a friends trailer perfectly, having only ever been in mine without a partition and never travelling with another horse. She was foot perfect! Even when the gelding tried to nibble her neck. 🥰

We hacked through a woody area, low branches my chest height and I’m now convinced she avoids them because she knows I’m above her. Never seen another horse do it but she purposefully walked through mud (she hates mud) to seemingly avoid me getting hit?!

Mine is happy to have a scratch and a cuddle but normally resists kisses- last night in the field I was allowed not one but 2 nose kisses which felt really special. I think the humid weather has made him more lethargic!

My young horse has a pink nose and has to wear suncream. He has been getting better about having it on as the 'summer' has progressed. Today he literally stuffed his nose in my filtabac covered hand, then really enjoyed having the cream rubbed in. He obviously knew it was going to be a hot day and he needed his suncream!!! Bless him!

I was leading my pony on a particularly spooky bit of road when two GSDs charged their garden fence as we were walking by. Pony did a huge leap forward yanking the reins out of my hands and disappeared down the road then came back when I called him and stood for me to get on. Mind you I believe the thought of going on alone may have slightly freaked him out. He is not the bravest!

Amber seemed to think she was going travelling again and groaned as she wandered off to where I usually load her. When I corrected her course back to the field track I got happy little squeaking and jiggy jog happiness. She had a busy week last week so I don’t blame her but I was proud she was prepared to go again even if she wasn’t feeling it. I felt even better that I was doing the right thing and giving her a few days off.

I kind of like the team work of swatting flies for the big lad. He'll look at me, point his head at which side of his body the fly is on and I'll find it and swat it for him. Got some lovely kisses when we got back, where he rested his nose right up against mine and breathed on me for a little while, which might have meant he was dog tired after a long, hot walk, but I'm going to choose to take to mean thanks for swatting flies for me. 😂

He's finally started coming over to say hi when I arrive. After 8 months of work, starting from barely being able to groom him without him needing to walk away because he didn't trust me, I am very pleased!
