My girl was kicked a couple of weeks ago on her hock nothing major just a small cut, and it was a bit swollen so gave her a few easy days, she was never lame on it at all, got back to a bit harder work but nothing too serious and I noticed at the weekend that the tendons above the point of hock were swollen, vet had a quick look when they were sorting her sarcoid and said to do light work with her and it may go but as she is not lame dont worry too much.

She is only six though and I may want to sell her or do a bit of showing one day, so I really dont want it to stay there!!! AHHHH soooo annoyed!!!!

It sounds like the kick has caused a bursa of the tendon sheath. Like a blister as a result of a blow to the area.

My horse has something similar near his gaskin following a kick, the swelling has not gone down and he has never be lame due to it.

It may be possible for the vet to aspirate it, but it is something to discuss with him/her if it does not settle on its own.

The important thing is that she is not lame on it and the vet has already had a look at it.

I would echo Highlandponylass - my boy developed a thoroughpin a year ago (probably through over-enthusiastic ski-ing downhill in his field!) and although there's still a slight swelling he's never been lame on it and the vet advice was to leave well alone.
