Swelling on face..

I noticed a swelling on Ethels face today when I brought her in, I didn't get a pic as my phone died on me but this is where is was ..

She's eating and drinking fine but its sore to touch. I tried having a look in her mouth but she's a nightmare with me poking around her mouth, she just about copes with a bit being put in! The dentist is coming out Tuesday morning so I'm thinking she'll be okay until then but I wanted to know what you guys think it could be. I think it could be an abcess although someone at the yard thinks she has food stuck in her teeth but she's never had that before. I'm pretty sure it wasn't there yesterday as we had cuddles in the field as surely she'd have protested to me having my arms wrapped round her head if it was there then.

Any ideas as to what it could be?

Fly bite or sting of some sort by the sounds of it.

It's quite big, I've never known a bite to be as big as what she has but just because I haven't seen it doesn't mean they dont happen sp it could well be

My old horse had similar, turned out to be a foreign body in her gum, she was sedated and had it removed.

my horse had a bump near there a few years ago
i put my hand up the side of her mouth and it was almost as if she had bit the inside her cheek
a few bottles of water squirted at it inside her mouth then left for a few days seemed to sort it

Thanks guys, no one has come up with something major so I'm thinking she'll be okay till Tuesday and the dentist can have a poke around.
