Hi all
I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas regarding fluid on and above the knee and how to get rid off it?
She is not lame never has been she banged it her self on the stable door and since then has been kicked twice in the same knee, vets have checked her and she is 100% saound this was about a 6-7 weeks ago the fluid has gone doen a little but is still there?
Any Ideas PLEASE x

cold hosing, massage and arnica are what I have been using with my horse to help disperse the fluid he has on his knee from a knock he got a week ago.He was on box rest until a couple of days ago and also was on bute.He was still a little lame though yesterday so for now I am just keeping him out and will continue the massage, cold hosing and arnica in the hope it goes down soon.Otherwise I am in the same situation as you with a horse who was meant to be shown having a large knee. I know it is possible to drain the fluid on the knee but vets are more reluctant to do this as there is a chance of introducing infection into the joint which is serious.

I've tried all that, like i said it's 6-7 weeks old now the kicks, the bang she a had to start with is nearly 3 months she did that the first night she i had her it dose not seem to be moving, started to ride her a couple of weeks ago ( only walking out 20 mins is )as like i said she never been lame with it (but now we grounded again but thats another story)
I starting to think it will never go.

Hi there, try massaging in something that contains Arnica or even better, get hold of some swell down, wrap it in plastic and let it produce heat.
