swelling on leg

Hiya my old mare who is still in full work has a swelling on the outside of her off fore, the swelling is on her fetlock and abit of her cannon, there is no lameness and it was warm to touch a few days ago but is normal temperature now. Its not a very soft or hard swelling but it is quite large, It isnt painful when i prod it. Any ideas what it could be?

Possibly a bite of some kind.

Sounds like a check ligament injury to me. Would get the vet to scan it to confirm. Will need rest and then quiet exercise. Takes about 3 months to sort itself out.
