My boy came in from the field with a 4 inch fluidy swelling on the side of his right quarter, which felt warm and tender to the touch, he wasnt lame on it at all and seemed ok in himself otherwise. The next day he comes in from the field, the swelling in the quarter has gone down to half of what it was, but the right hock has accumilated some fluid, giving a 'capped' appearence, with a slight bit of heat. Again he was not hopping lame, and happy to weight bear. But to touch it was tender for him.
Any ideas of what it could be? I keep looking in books and online and scaring myself. Plus as a youngster he was operated on for OCD in the stifles but made a good prognosis. Where the original quarter swelling is there was no cut, but a scuffed area where im guessing may have been a kick injury or hes knocked himself in another way. Im going to get the vet out tomorrow if no better, but still any ideas anyone?
