Since SWHP launched our Petition we have been attending
meetings at the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff with The Cross
Party Committee for the Horse, whose Chairman is Angela
Burns AM. She is a horsewoman who has a thorough
understanding of the welfare issues we have to deal with. It
is indeed heartening when attending these meetings to see the
various Welfare organisations, Police, Trading Standards and
Assembly Members working together to resolve the Passport
and Microchipping laws. It will not happen overnight - but
happen it will. There is a thorough understanding of the
welfare issues by all involved and a clear determination to
ensure that the Micro-chipping and Passport control will be
implemented, and the lives of horses in Wales will be made
better.
To assist us in this we would really appreciate
you writing to your local Assembly Member at
the Welsh Government, details can be found on
www.wales.gov.uk and for those of you living outside
Wales please write to John Griffiths AM, Minister for
Environment and Sustainable Development, Welsh
Government, Cardiff Bay, CF99 1NA. or his email
address correspondence. john.griffiths@wales.gsi.gov.uk
This is an opportunity for us all to make a real difference
and change the lives of these suffering creatures. Please
please do write.
