I had to take a picture simply because I wasn't sure I could describe it properly! So Flick has a small swelling in the corner of her eye, on the bottom of the eye in this pic? It is soft and squashy, and I dissapated it completely twice today by squishing it gently so it is obviously fluid filled. She didn't object at all so I assume it is not painful in any way, as she is a total wuss!

I did point the swelling out to the vet nurse when I picked Flick up from having her teeth done last week, she helpfully told me to 'keep an eye on it'. I haven't seen anything like this before, so I was wondering if anyone had seen this? I'm holding off taking her to the vets as the lump is small and obviously isn't bothering her

could she have something in it, grass seed or similar and have a bit of an infection. ive never seen anything like it on a dog but one of my horses had similar and she had a blocked sinus, not sure if dogs eyes have the same as horses.

I was thinking along the lines of a blocked sinus or tear gland or something similar I must admit - it almost looks as if it needs draining off? I was expecting her to be put on antibiotics after her extractions which I was hoping would sort it, but for the first time ever she got pain relief but no antibiotics! Must be concerns about resistance I suppose

Well just an update on this one because I found it quite surprising! The lump is still squishy and varies in size but seemed to have increased in size a bit, so we went off to the vet today to have it looked at. Vet did a needle biopsy and it was all blood he drew off! He was as surprised as me, I thought it was going to be yucky infection type stuff in there.

He put some on a slide to look at (sorry can't remember the technical name for it!) and said he would call me if there was anything other than ordinary blood - no phone call, so I am assuming that is what it is. He said it might be a fractured blood vessel of some kind, but we agreed that I would continue to monitor and leave well alone unless absolutely necessary - it refilled almost as soon as he emptied it, but it isn't affecting her eye at the moment and she isn't bothered by it in the least, so fingers crossed :)

how odd, hope all turns out ok

Thanks splashgirl :) She is as right as anything in herself bless her, having her teeth done has made the world of difference (eek, guilt complex!) - I shall keep my fngers tightly crossed that it just stays as it is. She is 12 now, I swear greyhounds over 12 years old compete amongst themselves to cause their owners most worry!!!
