Swollen around elbow

Our mare reared at the gelding in the next field last night and came down onto the wooden fence breaking it and cutting around the elbow. The cut is not deep but the swelling is huge and she is as expected lame. Have heard Epsom Salts help swelling as well as cold hosing anyone else heard this ? The wound is clean .

It will probebly be just bruised and time and the cold hosing will help reduce the swelling.
