I have had my dutch warmblood gelding for only 3 months, he lives out all year and loves it.

About a month ago i saw that he was slightly lame and had a swollen back leg, i kept him in but it just made it worse, so i got a vet out and had him looked at straight away he noticed he back leg and he had me trot him up he sed he was lame on him front not his back and i found out that he did have an infection in his front foot... the vet then did a flextion test on his back leg and he still found no lameness. anyway he is sound no with no probs but he still has this swollen fetlock... does anyone have any idea on how to bring down the swelling i do hose it 3 times aday but its been like it now for a few weeks....

I have seen swelling in fetlocks of stabled horses where their legs fill up overnight due to standing still all night so it could be why it was worse when you bought him in but i havent seen it when they live out... spose it could happen??

The only way i have seen this go down is keeping the horse moving... is there somewhere you can exercise him and see if it goes down then?

I have been riding and exercising him due to him not been lame at all anymore and the vet did say to carry on with what i was doing with him before his infection, but the swelling doesnt seen to want to go down. It doesnt seem to bother him in anyway. It just looks painful.
