swollen coronet band

My horse wouldn't weight bear and vet called out on Saturday. Abcess released in sole but no improvement. Polticed twice daily, abcess burst through coronet band. Still non weight bearing. Not eating much and looking very "tucked up" (mare has foal at foot and is in foal too). Today coronet band swollen all round hoof. Still non weight bearing. Vet came out and is going to x-ray tomorrow. What can be wrong? Advice please. I hate to see my mare suffering so much.

Sounds a bit like a secondary infection.. which with the strain of both being infoal and having a foal at foot and haveing had an abcess, which broke through the coronet. Id say she is probably struggling slightly...

Have the vet prescribed antibiotics?
Has her temperature been taken?

See what vet says tomorrow.
