Hi All

A bit of advice please. My 4year old Anglo Arab often has swollen glands in his head. The first time this happened (i've had him 1 1/2years) was spring this year but a lot of the other horses were showing the same signs so I wasn't too concerned. After a couple of weeks all the horses stopped getting them.

I've noticed his have started flaring up again, they swell between his cheek bones and neck, in his cheeks or even, for the first time earlier this week, his lips swelled. The swelling disappears while in his stable overnight. No other horses on the yard are currently having flare ups.

I've heard these called grass glands and vets have advised in the past in my old horse they were nothing to worry about. I guess I'm slightly worried as his seem to swell more often

Well, after over 10 years of seeing these come and go on my horses and not paying too much attention to it, this year they haven't had any. What's different.......I picked ALL the sycamore seedlings and leaves last autumn and this spring. I definitely think it was the culprit for my horses. Atypical Myopia warning threads made me deal with the sycamore but I've noticed lack of guttural pouch swellings as a result.

Interesting, I know we have sycamore in other fields but I haven't noticed in his current field. Thank you for the suggestion, I will have a look over the weekend
