Really worried
frown.gif
just come back from the yard, will be going back up there in 30 mins. My 11 month old colts face was really swollen, his eyes and his muzzle were twice the size. I checked him all over and every where else is fine apart from his face. He can still eat and drink.
It can't be a result of eating something that he shouldn't as there is only grass in the field.
Now yesterday I had to fix the bottom half of my fence as another livery had kindly put her young mare (who is in season) at the bottom of his field! Could the swelling be a result of a kick or is it possible that he has just been stung by a bee/wasp?
Can I give him antihistamine to try and reduce the swelling?
Help please I am quite concerned

Yes I was with him for a couple of hours to check he was ok, his breathing is fine. I wasn't sure how long ago he was either stung/kicked so I stayed with him for quite a while in case the swelling got any worse. I am going back up in a few mins to check on him and if I'm not happy I am going to get the vet out straight away. Will keep you updated.

ETA: Did ring the vet whilst up there and they just said watch him and to ring back if it seems worse.
