Has anyone else had the above? My 6yr old came in from the field about 6weeks ago with a swollen fetlock joint and a small amount of heat, I thought he had possibly sprained it in the mud as it was almost up to his knees. I have since moved yards and in the mornings his legs are slightly filled from being in his stable, but this 1 fetlock joint is more swollen than the others. He is 100% sound and there is no heat so I am really confused at what it could be. When I bring him in from the field its gone down. Does anyone have any thoughts??

I posted pretty much the exact thing the other day! My mare had a swollen fetlock I think it was from tearing around in the mud, but was sound. Has gone down now. Is there any chance you can keep him out all day? When I sit down for a long period of time my ankles get puffy, I guess its kind of the same thing? The movement keeps the blood and fluid circulating

windgalls? my pony gets puffy fetlocks because of them but not lame. i think they were caused from hard ground when he was young....so maybe the mud could do it? x :)

Thanks guys xmillyx how long would you say it took for your mares fetlock to not swell at all? Unfortunately we have not been given the go ahead to leave out 24/7, but wouldn't have thought it would be too much longer. Thanks Littlemouse I will read up on windgalls :)
