Can anyone help me.
I have owned my mare since feb, she is a 4 year old who was unbroken when she come to me. She was vetted and x-rayed in holland with no issues and re vetted here with me again no issues - apart from a small cold splint. Again she had general check and lameness workup 4 weeks ago and again all ok.
She is now in full work, i think she knocked the splint about 2 week or so ago as was a little puffy. the swelling went down and the back of her knee swelled and was a little hot and puffy - I had her stabled and bandaged - the swellen has now gone. but for the last week maybe a bit longer her fetlock has been swollen - this has no real heat in it and is not puffy its quite solid to touch. She has been sound the whole time. I am a worrier & as no clear problem feel silly getting vet out - does anyone know if this could be caused by the splint.

The end of the splint bone is just above the fetlock so it is possible that it could be related- could be a splint bone fracture otherwise. Worth a chat with the vet and possibly an exam +/- X-ray.

her symptoms sound similar to that of my pony I presume there is no puncture wound that you can't see very well as it could be an infection, though with my pony it was a broken splint bone.

things don't just swell up for no reason unfortunately.
