Swollen fetlocks

Our 6yr old mare for several weeks now has swollen fetlocks hind only. At one time with a rapid digital pulse .
I had the vet take a look could give me no reason why . Currently not shod behind anyone any answers or experience of ?

Mine had this age 4. Eventually had a laminitic attack. Turns out he has EMS. Hinds were worse than fronts, but the swollen fetlocks were there regardless of being stabled or out in the field. The high pulse is a good indicator something to do with blood flow is going on. Mine also rubs/ itches his bum and neck where he gets fat pads if bad. May not be this, but may be worth checking with your vet.

A bounding pulse can be due to inflammation in the foot as well as the blood flow is restricted and as a result backs up in the artery, making the pulse feel a bit stronger than normal. When they stand in a lot they normally get 'stocking up' i.e. their legs fill but I've never heard of that happening in conjunction with a bounding pulse.

I would get another vet from your practice to have a look.

Thanks marmaduke and hopscotch she had the test for ems came back fine blood tested for different things nothing shows any abnormalities .They are in overnight now out in day .I have put equistreamz bands on see how they look in the morning.
