My pony came in hopping a couple of weeks ago with a swollen fetlock so vet called out straight away. They found he had some mud fever which had got a bit injected (felt terrible for not noticing sooner!) and thought he may have an abscess, which would explain the extreme lameness, as just the day before he was out competing at BD! Farrier came a couple of days later checked him and no abscess. So he has had antibiotics and box rest and is now back out in the field and in light work. However he came in tonight with a swollen gaskin/second thigh on the same leg. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I was worried about cellulitis? But there is no heat and he isn't particularly lame now? Probably not 100% but I would guess at only a 1/10 lame, possibly 2/10 at a push.
