Swollen hind legs?

Teazle's hind legs are swollen today, not hugely and there is no heat but they are definitely swollen. Is this like when pregnant women get swollen ankles?? Should I cold hose?

I never heard of this happening, has anyone's elses mare had swollen legs?

No worries unless she's lame or there is heat, mine got that too, pregnant Lady syndrome I think.
Is she in at night? If so, it will probably go down when she walks about the field.

a horse at the yard had this the other night. the owner said it was usually caused by the horse lying down for too long. like a pins and needle effect when you sit on your legs funny i think!

yes my mare had this over the last week and now she has foaled she is fine !! i cold hosed and also used cooling gel !!

Thanks everyone, phew nothing to worry about. Yes she is in at night (in half a barn) and she has been lying down a lot, which i think is due to getting achy legs from a heavy baby

Yes, Hannah got them in the last few days although they went down pretty quickly when she went out in the field... I didn't both cold hosing, although I did put some cooling gel on.
