My mare went XC training yesterday and has developed a swollen hock in her stable today :-( she isn't lame and there isn't much heat in it. It's just huge! I've cold hosed for 15mins and rubbed arnica into it. I've turned her out over night in the hope she'll walk it off. Have I missed anything? I will call the vet in the morning if it's not come down but by the time she walked over to her field the swelling looked less.
I'm hoping she bruised it and I know she had a lay down in her stable today so whether she then laid on it?
Anyone got any experiences? She was just going beautifully, I'll be gutted if it's serious :-( I can't upload pictures as I'm on my phone but the swelling was all round the hock mainly on the outside and slightly below. It was hard to see much definition but by the time she was in her field it you could.
