Hi. My horse has just had a really bad kick on the knee and is incredibly lame, thought scans have shown tissue damage only. Someone has recommended a Zamar machine? Does anyone know about these, where I can find information on them and also has anyone ever used one successfully?

Try PM'ing KarenX....they have one of the Zamar machines on their yard

A Zamar is a hot/cold treatment machine. You put the leg wraps or hock/knee boots on the horse which have soft rubber pipes in the inside of the boots. These tubes attach to a feed line at the horses back, which continues to the machine. Set the machine to temperature usually 3 degrees (unless instructed colder by a vet) A cold gel then pulsates through the wraps for periods of up to 30 mins. You can treat all 4 legs at the same time. It is a fantastic machine & can help keep a horse on the road especially when competing outdoors on firm ground. I use one to help prevent problems but it has made an amazing difference in treatments to many leg problems including tendon & check ligament injury. Although time is definately the best healer this machine does help.

Thanks Freshman. I've looked on the website now as well so will give them a call today and have a chat with them. I hadn't heard of it before. Showing my age - only cold treatment I've ever known is hosing!
