For around a month my mare hind fetlocks swell when she stabled overnight. Not a problem doesnt bother me as it goes down when out.
But recently I have started to notice that 1 hind leg is fat to fetlock and has no swelling to cannon bone etc. The other hind leg swells right up to the hock and looks enormous. Even the fetlock is fatter on this leg that the other.

Would this be caused from her being in at night or could it be something else? Got to chat to my vet tomorrow about getting a set of bloods done to see if her liver enzymes are still good so will mention to him anyway. But just wondered what your thoughts are.

Could be a number of things. Does it go down at all when she goes out? Is she lame? Our 2 horses always have filled legs in the morning but that's inactivity, if this is recent and worse than previously I would have a chat with the vet.

She not lame as such. Its really stiff and she hobbles for 10 strides or so til she gets moving. It does go down but never goes down fully if that makes any sense.
She never had fat legs last year. They have come about this year. She has now been in at night for around six weeks. But swelling is worse now than when she first came in.

Might be an age thing if she is getting on a bit or possibly pulled something in the field which is swelling up and getting sore with box rest, may even be something like cellulitis. Have a chat with the vet tomorrow and see what he reckons.
