My horse has had a swollen pastern for over a month now. At no point has there been any heat, tenderness, or signs of lameness. It walks down and goes down when he is out during the day but comes up when stabled at night.
Any ideas what is causing it?
I have heard that diet can be the casue of leg swelling.
He gets 1 buiscuit alfalfa hay + chaff+ grain mix+ rice bran am and pm and has grass during the day (Im in Australia so we still have lots of summer grass). We have cut the grain and rice bran down to a handfull as he is not working, but it doesnt seem to have changed anything.
Any suggestions appreciated.
