Anyone had there horse have this before or know of one, know about it? He is a colt and it was clean.

Horse on my yard's sheeth swelled up quite badly after a period of time in.

12hours after turning him back out it had more or less gone back to normal.

You have put my mind at rest, thankyou.
I did panic. The vet said it is nothing to worry about and he will have a look on his next visit.
He walks out in hand a bit and goes for a poddle whilst i am mucking out but it is not enough i know. He is so weak he can't cope with much more.
You are a star thankyou

my horse got a swollen sheath...got me very worried.
read up about it (got a bit scared to by some stories) but turn out being stabled for long periods of time can cause a build up of fluids there (like what happens to legs....they get filled legs)
so i turned him out for a few hours and it went down completely.
maybe try this..and if its still the same id get the vet down. just to rule it out before you spend lots of money on the vet
is he peeing ok??

My shettie's sheath swells every summer, I presume due to midge bites. Last year I used udder cream on his sheath (A charming mint-green colour, lol!) and it did help a lot. It soothes existing bites and deters new ones.

I wonder if it's little beasties in the straw that are biting the sheath when he's lay down?
