My youngster was stuck on his stable door on friday with the door stuck right up into his groin. Unsuprisingly he has a swollen sheath and some swelling on the bottom of his belly.
His sheath suddenly resembles a large pair of testicles!!
he is on a course of Anti B's and danilon, though he is a pain and doesn't finish his medicine.
He is fighting fit & bouncing round the field, I haven't seen him pee - he lives out - but he happily drops his willy.
Anyone have any experience of similar.....?

I am sure you have tried this, but just in case....buy some basics apple juice and put it in his feed with the meds. That should encourage him to finish it and lick the bowl! That's how I get meds into B. I either dissolve in apple juice and syringe or mix in feed with apple juice. The basics stuff is good as it is sweeter and dirt cheap.

He'd never eaten an apple till last week and is still a bit suspicious about them, will only eat bits you bite off the apple for him.
i have had success with sugarbeet water, though worry that having to give him any 'food' is counter productive!!
I can see myself trying everything this week though, he really is so picky.

Have you tried Golden Syrup? I just put a dollop on top of the meds and stir into normal feed. If your sugar beet water is working then could you try him on one of the Kwik Beets that dont have any mollases in, so not counter productive.
Re the swelling is probably just because the sheath is the lowest point (gravity) and fluid in response to the injury is just trapped there. It'll hopefully shift in a few days time

He has probably traumatised and bruised his man area. Exercise in the field and the treatment you are giving him should do the trick in a week - 10 days.

My horse hates antibiotics and I found sugarbeet and mint helped encouraged him to eat up.
