swollen sheath

Lots of horses get swollen sheaths if they are stabled and are not getting enough exercise. It should reduce significantly when he is back in proper work. However, if you arein any doubt, give the vet a call as obviously we do not know any other circumstances which may be affecting your horse.

It's always wise to get the vet - but I agree with FMM - sheaths can swell a bit when the horse is not exercised (especially as they hang below the horse where the fluid collects).
I'd keep an eye out for any signs of other problems - infections, not peeing normal amounts etc, just in case, though, and try to get him moving as much as possible (easier said than done, I know).
Hope he's better soon.
