I'm was hoping for some advice please...My lad has had a circle sore on his sheath about the size of a 5p coin. I'm not sure what it is or what's caused it. I've cleaned it and sprayed it with Seal to Heal (horsey spray on plaster) but still the flys are getting to it. Tonight his whole sheath looks very swollen. Any suggestions as to what I can do to treat it or would you call the vet for some antibiotics ect straight away.

Thanks x

The only thing I would put in a sheath is KY jelly to soften the gunk and sooth any soreness. The sheath washes that can be bought will often cause more problems than they solve.

Use summer fly cream or Filtabac cream on the sore .
But if the whole sheath is swollen it really needs a vet to look at it .

It probably looks swollen because you've more than likely trapped a load of bacteria inside the wound using the spray. I would advise vet asap.

Mine had something that sounded like that last year and I was a bit panicked about it, Turned out to be an insect bite and I got some bute from the vet which took it down in a couple of days. Let's hope yours is something similar.
