Does anyone have experience of gastric ulcers? What symptoms did the horse have and how did you go about treating it?

We had a horse with gastric ulcers.
She was lack lustre, and was found to be anaemic - which then led to the GU diagnosis.
There are some pretty expensive drugs out there. However, we did not treat with drugs.
She was put on a course of Propell - plus it was ensured that she had a constant supply of forage in front of her. She is an event horse - so had been going for periods of time without hay when in.
She is turned out as much as possible, has a constant supply of hay when in and is blood tested regularly. She took around 3 months to recover, and has never had a bout since.

You can buy that Gastro Gold stuff, not sure who its buy - my friend used it on her horse tho.

Is that propell good stuff? What about the equine america version anyone use that?
